Microscopy and Culture
Turnaround time:
Microscopy - patients examined in laboratory can wait for results, or 2 days; Culture - 2-4 weeks; 6 weeks for biopsies
Special sample instructions:
Biopsies should be received by the laboratory within 1 day, and should be kept moist by immersion is sterile saline.
Storage and transport:
Patients can be examined in laboratory, or up to 3 specimens per patient are accepted by post. Skin, hair, nail, swabs, brushes accepted
