Description: 
Rapid urinary antigen detection
Clinical details: 
Legionella species cause illnesses ranging from an uncomplicated febrile illness to severe pneumonia (Legionnaires's disease). Most cases are caused by Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 (the target for the urinary antigen test). The test has an approximately 70-80% sensitvity for diagnosing acute legionella infection.


Sample type and Volume required: 
Minimum of 10mls of urine in a sterile universal container.

Same day
Storage and transport: 
Place labelled sample in a sealed sample bag and send to Central Specimen Reception (CSR).
