The local laboratory is at Tooting where there are two main laboratories, Red Cell Immunohaematology (RCI) and Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) and also the International Blood Group Reference Laboratory (IBGRL) in Bristol.
Please discuss requirements for referral tests with the Laboratory and/or Haematology SpR before requesting. For information on how to order the test contact the Transfusion Laboratory.

All details must be legibly handwritten on the blood tube.
Surname (in full)
Forename (in full)
GSTT Hospital Number*
Date of Birth
Date and time of sample
Sex
Signature of the person taking the sample
*Most samples from GP surgeries may be accepted without a hospital number. However samples for transfusion testing on antenatal patients must always have a GSTT hospital number.
