ENA (Extractable Nuclear Antigens)
Description:
The identification of autoantibodies to the ENA family is an integral component in the investigation of the rheumatological disorders.
Antibodies to SS-A (Ro) and SS-B (La) are mainly associated with Sjogren’s syndrome but may be found in SLE and less frequently in other autoimmune disorders. Anti-Sm and anti-RNP are associated with SLE and mixed connective tissue disease. Anti-Scl 70 is associated with scleroderma while anti-Jo-1 is seen in dermatomyositis.
