Dr John KleinMRCP FRCPath DTM&H
Dr John Joined Guy's and St Thomas' Trust as a Consultant Microbiologist in 2004 and was Clinical Lead for Microbiology and Virology from 2009 till 2014.
His medical training was preceded by obtaining a degree in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University in 1985 and he obtained the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at Liverpool in 1996. He was also awarded the Milne Medal for Tropical Medicine during this time.
Dr John started training in Clinical Microbiology in 1997, shortly after working as a registrar in HIV medicine and Infectious Diseases at St. Mary’s Hospital, London and gained an MSc in Clinical Microbiology in 1999.
While Clinical Lead he led the introduction of many new tests in Microbiology including MALDI-TOF and PCR-based tests for C. difficile and Tuberculosis and is a member of British Infection Association.

- The diagnosis and management of bacteraemia
- Endocarditis
- Malaria
