Synnovis Customer Information
In addition to providing pathology services to you, Synnovis is leading a transformation programme of pathology services in south east London.
A key element of this was the introduction of the market-leading Beaker Laboratory Information Management System (Beaker LIMS), which went live on 5 October 2023. Beaker replaces many of our existing LIMS, which provides the opportunity for long term improvements for all of our service users including those outside south east London. At the same time, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts will jointly introduced a new electronic health record (EHR) system, Epic.
Owing to the consolidation of multiple LIMS systems currently in use there have been some changes you may need to be aware of.
Billing enhancements and test code changes
The introduction of a new LIMS has necessitated a change of test codes and improvements to invoicing, including the following benefits:
- Streamlined Billing - our Beaker system has consolidated multiple legacy LIMS across our infrastructure, bringing clearer and more transparent invoicing for you.
- Smoother electronic integration - transitioning to a single LIMS will enhance our connectivity to platforms such as NPEx, making electronic ordering and reporting more straightforward.
- One-Stop Sample Submission - once we transition to our modern Blackfriars Hub facility, you’ll enjoy the convenience of sending the majority of your samples to a single centralised location, with the exception of some specialised tests which we will share with you in future communications
If you have any questions regarding billing please contact: creditcontrol@synnovis.co.uk
The introduction of a new LIMS will necessitate a change of test codes.
To allow you to become familiar with the new tests codes we will be sharing a list of the new codes mapped against the current ones. The consolidation process is still underway and the list will be uploaded before you receive your next invoices.
Appearance changes to result reports
The introduction of the new LIMS has resulted in a minor appearance change to result reporting. We’ve taken care to replicate the format of our current reports, however you may notice some minor differences. Please be assured, all the necessary information has been included to ensure our reports continue to meet the required ISO standards.
Please see below an example of the results reports issued by the new LIMS system.
Changes to reference ranges
Owing to the consolidation of multiple LIMS systems and the introduction of Beaker, there have been some changes to reference ranges, test parameters and critical phoning limits. These should be used from October 5 onwards.
