Dr Paul Cane FRCPath

Consultant Histopathologist

Dr Paul is a consultant thoracic and breast histopathologist and the thoracic MDT lead at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, London. He receives cases for expert opinion from across south-east England and co-chairs the lung pathology working group within the London Cancer Alliance.

He was a member of the Guideline Development Group responsible for the current National Institute for Heath and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines for the diagnosis and management of lung cancer and a member of Topic Expert Group that set the current NICE lung cancer Quality Standards. He was the project lead for the LungPath project, a national audit examining the quality of pathological diagnosis of lung cancer in England.

Dr Paul is a pathology advisor to CRUK's Stratified Medicine Programme. His major interests are in improving the quality of the pathological diagnosis of lung cancer and optimising the use of tissue to support targeted therapies. He is also the appointed Caldicott Guardian for Synnovis.
