Fractional excretion of uric acid: FJHN / gout / hereditary renal hypouricaemia

Description: 
The fractional excretion of uric acid collection is decreased in gout and familial juvenile hyperuricaemia, also known as autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial kidney disease (ADTKD).
Clinical details: 
The fractional excretion of uric acid (FEur) is decreased in under-excreting gout and autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial kidney disease. FEur may be dramatically increased in patients with hereditary renal hypouricaemia.

24h urine collection
Sample type and Volume required: 
EDTA (purple top) and Lithium heparin (green top), 24 h urine collected with thymol
Turnaround time: 
3 weeks
Storage and transport: 
10ml aliquot of warmed ( sink of hot water, 30min), well mixed 24h urine, store in fridge or freezer, can thaw in 1st class post.
