Apolipoprotein B

Description:
Apolipoprotein B is the main constituent of LDL which is involved in cholesterol transport into the tissues. The combined determination of apolipoprotein A-1/apolipoprotein B and the calculation of the apolipoprotein B : apolipoprotein A1 ratio can reflect a lipid metabolism disorder and the risk of developing atherosclerosis or coronary heart disease and the adequacy of therapy.
Clinical details:
Apo B is central to lipoprotein transport and is essential for the secretion of Triglyceride (TG) rich lipoproteins from the liver and gut.
