Description: 
Qualitative chemiluminescent immuno-assay for Cytomegalovirus (CMV) IgG antibodies. This assay is available routinely Mon to Fri.
Clinical details: 
CMV IgG persists lifelong following primary infection. This test is used to determine CMV serological status, indicating whether patient has already been infected with CMV. Used to determine CMV IgG status of transplant donors and recipients. May also be used in other clinical settings eg prior to administration of immunosuppressive therapy. Included in diagnostic profile for primary CMV infection, when CMV IgM has been detected.

Storage and transport: 
Place labelled sample in a sealed sample bag and send to Central Specimen Reception (CSR). To prevent sample haemolysis please store samples in refrigerator if a delay in sending samples to CSR is unavoidable.
