Description:
Serum Immunofixation is performed (as required) to confirm the presence of monoclonal paraprotein bands and characterise these based on immunoglobulin heavy and light chain composition.
Related condition or disease:
Multiple Myeloma, Waldenstrom's macroglobulinaemia, Amyloidosis, Plasma Cell Dyscrasias.

Clotted (yellow SST tube) Serum. Mimunum volume 250 µL.

Criteria for acceptance / rejections of sample
Storage and transport:
Store samples at 2-6°C, and send at ambient temperature via first class post.
