Scientific Research and Innovation Services (formally Contract Research and Development)
Department overview
The Scientific Research and Innovation Services (formally Contract Research and Development) provides the opportunity for Synnovis Analytics (GSTT, KCH, and PRUH) to support investigators from NHS, academic and commercial areas of research requiring pathology services for clinical research studies, scientific research and service evaluations. Accredited laboratories are often the preferred resources used by study investigators due to the high levels of integrity, precision and transparency of results obtained. Please see the following document for more information on Synnovis' accreditation status and test repertoire.
Clinical trials and research studies have a study specific protocol and are governed by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulations, requiring approvals from the local research ethics committee (REC) and the Integrated Research Application System (IRAS).
Our contracting team manage the feasibility assessment, costing negotiations, contract execution, internal study setup and study facilitation of all commercial and non-commercial research required within all disciplines of Pathology and across all Synnovis hospital sites (GSTT, KCH, PRUH). For this service, please complete and return the Research Information Form along with the study protocol to kch-tr [dot] synnovis [dot] researchenquiries [at] nhs [dot] net and we would be happy to assist you in your research.
In addition to the wealth of scientific expertise and test repertoire that Synnovis Analytics has to offer, our scientific team offers a unique service to the investigator through bespoke biomarker analysis and unique trial design including protocol optimisation, project supervision and kit evaluations. Manual sample processing, data generation and entry according to GCP and sample logging and storage according to HTA regulations is managed within this team. Please see the following documents for our user guide and test repertoire.
