Molecular Neuropathology Laboratory
The Molecular Neuropathology Laboratory is the designated laboratory within the South East Genomics Laboratory Hub (SEGLH) offering molecular analysis of neurological malignancies as part of the NHSE Genomics Medicine Service. The laboratory carries out approximately 800 molecular neuropathology tests per year. These include DNA and RNA testing of common brain tumour prognostic markers such as MGMT promoter methylation status and methylation array.
Laboratory overview
The laboratory operates 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
The laboratory delivers a range of tests for neurological malignancies, all of which was aligned to the NHSE Genomics Test Directory (https://www.england.nhs.uk/publication/national-genomic-test-directories/).
MGMT promoter methylation status- 14 days from sample receipt
Methylation array- 21 days from sample receipt
Multimodal NGS panel- 21 days from sample receipt
Whole genome sequencing- 42 days from receipt of data
Requests
Our current request form is available to download from the KCH website: https://www.kch.nhs.uk/gps-and-referrers/neuropathology-guides-for-referrers/molecular-neuropathology-service/
If you have insufficient material or if you require multiple tests on the same samples, please call the laboratory to discuss any additional requirements prior to sending.
